About these symptoms
What men actually describe
It rarely arrives as one thing. It is energy that does not come back after a weekend off. It is wanting sex less than you used to, and minding that you mind. It is strength that used to be there in the gym, motivation that has gone quiet, a head that feels one step behind. Most men put it down to age, or work, or the last few years, and wait a long time before saying it out loud to anybody.
Why a symptom list cannot be the answer
These symptoms are common and they are not specific. Broken sleep and sleep apnoea produce all of them. So do stress, low mood conditions, thyroid problems, anaemia, diabetes, alcohol, body weight and several ordinary medications. Because so many things land in the same place, a questionnaire flags plenty of men whose levels turn out to be perfectly normal. European urology guidance says as much, and recommends against using self-reported questionnaires to screen men who have no symptoms at all. What a symptom check is genuinely good for is helping a man who already feels something decide whether the conversation is worth having.
How testosterone is properly tested
With blood, taken in the morning, usually fasting, and then repeated on a second occasion before anything at all is concluded. Levels move through the day and from one day to the next, so a single sample taken after lunch settles nothing. A doctor reads the result next to your symptoms, your history and other blood work, because a number on its own is not a diagnosis either.
Why we do not show you a score
A number out of ten would look like a measurement of you. It is not. It counts how many boxes you ticked, and nothing more. Handing it to you would invite you to read a verdict into a tally, and a tally cannot carry one. You get the plain description of what you told us instead, and a route to somebody who can test.
What a doctor looks at besides testosterone
Sleep, first, almost always. Then mood, because low mood and low testosterone describe each other and each can be mistaken for the other. Then thyroid, iron, blood sugar, blood pressure, alcohol, the medicines you already take, and your weight, which is on the list not as a judgement but because it genuinely interacts with hormones. Ruling those in or out is often more useful than the testosterone result itself.
If this has been going on a while
Men wait years with this. Not because it is unbearable, but because it is vague, and because saying it out loud in a waiting room is worse than living with it. That is the part Carisma Medical is built to remove. You answer questions from your own sofa, a Malta-registered doctor reads them, and you talk it through in a 20-minute video consultation. If it is not right for you, they say so.
Common questions
What does this symptom check actually do?
It asks eight yes or no questions about your energy, your sex life, your muscle strength and your mood, and it describes back to you how many of those symptoms you reported. That is the whole of it. It does not measure anything, it does not diagnose anything, and it cannot tell you whether your testosterone is low. Only a blood test arranged by a doctor can do that.
Can a questionnaire tell me if I have low testosterone?
No, and you should be careful of anything that says it can. Symptom questionnaires pick up a lot of men who turn out to have normal levels, because these symptoms are so common and have so many causes. European urology guidance is explicit that self-reported questionnaires are not reliable enough to screen a population with. What a symptom check is good for is helping you decide whether the conversation is worth having.
What else causes low energy, low drive and low mood?
A great deal. Poor or broken sleep, sleep apnoea, stress, low mood conditions, thyroid problems, anaemia, diabetes, alcohol, body weight and several common medications all produce this same cluster. Testosterone is one possible cause on a long list, which is why a doctor looks at the whole picture rather than at one number.
Why do you not show me a score?
Because a score invites you to read a verdict into it, and there is no verdict here. A number out of ten would look like a measurement of you, when all it counts is how many boxes you ticked. You get the plain description instead, and a route to somebody who can actually test.
How is testosterone properly tested?
With a blood sample taken in the morning, usually fasting, and then repeated on a second occasion before anything is concluded. Levels move through the day and from day to day, so a single sample taken in the afternoon is not enough to decide anything. Your doctor reads the result alongside your symptoms, your history and other bloods.
Are my answers sent anywhere while I take the check?
No. Everything is worked out inside your browser as you go. Nothing leaves the page until you fill in the form on the last step and press the button yourself, and that form asks for two separate permissions: one for us to handle your health information, and a second, optional one for us to contact you. You can withdraw either at any time.
Do my answers go into advertising?
Never. Your answers, your result and the name of your band are never sent to Meta, to Google or to any other advertising platform, they are never used to build an audience, and they are never sold. Health information you give us is held in medical confidence and a Malta-registered doctor is who reads it.
What happens if I start a free assessment?
You answer a longer set of questions, then a Malta-registered doctor goes through them with you on a video call. The doctor decides whether a blood test is the sensible next step and tells you either way, including when the answer is that this is not right for you. The assessment is free and it is for adults of 18 and over in Malta.
Can I use this if I am under 18?
No. Carisma Medical is for adults of 18 and over. If you are under 18 and something about your energy, your mood or your body is worrying you, please speak to your family doctor or to a parent or guardian. They can help, and it stays private.

This symptom check is for information only. It is not a medical assessment, it does not diagnose anything, and it does not decide what care you can have. Only a doctor can do that, and only a blood test can show your testosterone level.
