Carisma Medical
Consultation in progress
What happens today
Four Steps. One Call.
You do not need the right words ready, and you do not have to prove how bad it has got before anyone will take it seriously.
Pre-assessment, then book your consultation
The pre-assessment asks what changed, when it started, how you have been sleeping and how the worry shows up in your body. It is free, and you choose the time that suits you. Your doctor reads it before you meet, so you do not have to explain yourself from scratch once the call starts.
Pre-assessment free · €59 paid when you book, and that is your consultation
Meet your doctor on video
Twenty minutes with a doctor registered with the Medical Council of Malta, unhurried. They will ask about your sleep and about how much you are drinking, because both sit close to anxiety and both change what the right answer is. Nothing you describe will be the first time they have heard it, and sometimes the answer is not a prescription at all. You will hear why.
20 minutes · every patient, no exceptions
Your prescription, in your inbox
Talking therapy is a first-line treatment for anxiety, and your doctor may recommend it, practical changes, or a referral to be seen in person, in writing. If the doctor prescribes, your private digital prescription is emailed to you as soon as the doctor issues it, usually straight after the call. It covers what the doctor has decided is right for you.
A plan either way, in writing

What A Doctor Can And Cannot Do In One Call
Twenty minutes with a doctor is genuinely useful, and it is not therapy and not a full psychiatric assessment. Knowing which of those you are booking is the point of this section.
What the consultation can do
- Take a proper history of what changed, when it started, and what it is costing you day to day
- Explain why your chest, your stomach and your sleep are involved, because those symptoms are physical events and not something you are imagining
- Ask about sleep and about alcohol, both of which sit close to anxiety and change what the right answer is
- Tell you honestly what would help most, including talking therapy, which is a first-line treatment for anxiety
- Tell you whether anything physical should be ruled out first, and which test would do it
- Prescribe where a doctor judges it clinically appropriate, with the trade-offs explained before anything is issued
- Say plainly when you need more support than this service offers
What it cannot do
- Help in a crisis. If you are thinking of harming yourself, or you cannot keep yourself safe today, go to a hospital emergency department now or call 112. Do not wait for an appointment
- Replace therapy. A consultation is not a course of treatment, and no twenty minutes substitutes for one
- Diagnose a complex condition in a single call. Some of this needs to be seen over time, by a specialist, in person
- Treat dependence on alcohol or drugs, which needs its own dedicated service and a different kind of support
- Take over care from a psychiatrist or a mental health team already treating you, or change a plan another doctor set without their records
- Treat anyone under 18, or anyone outside Malta and Gozo
The online pre-assessment is free. You pay €59 when you book, and that is what covers your 20-minute intake consultation with the doctor. The €29 a month starts only after you have been seen. Month to month. Stay as long as it is helping, and cancel the moment it is not. The doctor gives you their time and their answer either way. If the doctor judges treatment appropriate, your prescription covers what they have decided is right for you, and it is in your inbox straight after the call. If the honest answer is that therapy, a specialist, or your own GP is the right next step rather than anything the doctor can prescribe, that is a real outcome and not a wasted appointment. You will leave knowing what the doctor recommends as the next step. When your prescription runs out, ask for a renewal. Your doctor reviews it and, if it is still right for you, the new prescription is emailed to you. WhatsApp support when something changes. If the doctor prescribes, the medicine is a separate purchase. Collect at any pharmacy in Malta or Gozo. You pay the pharmacy directly, at its own price. We never sell or ship medicine.
Before you book
The Questions People Actually Have
Is this therapy?
No, and it would be dishonest to let you book it thinking it was. This is a consultation with a doctor: twenty unhurried minutes to describe what is happening, have it taken seriously, and work out what would actually help. Talking therapy is a first-line treatment for anxiety. Part of the doctor’s job here is to say so plainly, and to point you towards it, when that is the right next step for you.
Will the doctor just prescribe something?
Not automatically, and often not at all. A prescription is one option among several, it is not the first thing a doctor reaches for with anxiety, and it is not right for everyone. What happens on the call is that the doctor takes a proper history and then talks the options through with you, including the ones that involve no prescription at all, with the trade-offs said out loud. Where they judge a prescription clinically appropriate, they explain why before anything is issued, and you decide with them rather than being handed a plan.
If the doctor does prescribe, how do I get it?
If the doctor prescribes, your private digital prescription is emailed to you as soon as the doctor issues it, usually straight after the call. It also sits in your patient portal. Collect at any pharmacy in Malta or Gozo. You pay the pharmacy directly, at its own price. We never sell or ship medicine.
My symptoms are mostly physical. Is this the right place?
Yes. A racing heart, a tight chest, a churning stomach, dizziness, pins and needles and flat exhaustion are common ways anxiety shows up, and they are real physical events in your body rather than something you are imagining. It also matters that some of them can have other causes, which is exactly why a doctor is the right person to describe them to. Your doctor will go through them properly and tell you whether anything physical should be ruled out first, and which test would do it.
What if I need more support than a 20-minute call can give?
Then the doctor tells you, and that conversation is part of what you booked rather than a failure of it. Some things need a psychiatrist, a therapist or a mental health team instead of an online consultation, and being told which one is a useful outcome. What you will not get here is a plan that quietly works around the fact that you need more.
Will the doctor ask about drinking?
Yes, and not to judge you. Alcohol and anxiety feed each other: a drink can settle an evening and make the following morning considerably worse, and a doctor who does not know how much you are drinking is working from half the picture. It is a question they ask everybody. Answering it honestly changes the advice you get, which is the only reason it is asked.
I have not been sleeping. Does that belong in this appointment too?
It does, and the two are hard to separate. Anxiety wrecks sleep and poor sleep makes anxiety worse, so a doctor will usually ask about both in the same conversation rather than treating them as two separate appointments. If sleep turns out to be the larger problem, your doctor will say so and deal with it in that order.
Will this reach my GP, my employer or my insurer?
No. Nothing is sent to anyone unless you ask us to send it. Your consultation is a private medical record held by Carisma Medical inside the EU. If you would like a summary sent to your own doctor, we will do that, and only then. There is no reception, no counter and nobody in a waiting room.
I have felt like this for years. Is it too late to bring it up?
No. Having lived with it for years does not make it less worth addressing, and how long it has been going on is part of what the doctor will ask about rather than a reason to leave it unsaid. You do not need a crisis, a diagnosis or a good enough reason to be worth twenty minutes of a doctor’s time.
How much is it, and what if the doctor says I need something else?
The online pre-assessment is free. You pay €59 when you book, and that is what covers your 20-minute intake consultation with the doctor. The €29 a month starts only after you have been seen. Month to month. Stay as long as it is helping, and cancel the moment it is not. The doctor gives you their time and their answer either way, so if the outcome is that therapy or a specialist is the right next step, that is the answer you have paid for. You leave with a clear next step, rather than with a refund. If the doctor prescribes, the medicine is a separate purchase. Collect at any pharmacy in Malta or Gozo. You pay the pharmacy directly, at its own price. We never sell or ship medicine.
Is there a monthly fee, and can I stop it?
There is, and you can stop it whenever you like. Here is what it covers. When your prescription runs out, ask for a renewal. Your doctor reviews it and, if it is still right for you, the new prescription is emailed to you. WhatsApp support when something changes. That is €29 a month, and it starts only after you have been seen. Month to month. Stay as long as it is helping, and cancel the moment it is not. A consultation is always €59. If you want another one in a later month, that month is €59 instead of €29. If the doctor prescribes, the medicine is a separate purchase. Collect at any pharmacy in Malta or Gozo. You pay the pharmacy directly, at its own price. We never sell or ship medicine.
What if I am not safe right now?
Then this is not the right service and waiting for an appointment is not safe. If you are thinking of harming yourself, or you do not feel able to keep yourself safe today, go to your nearest hospital emergency department now, or call 112. Carisma Medical is not for emergencies. If you are unwell now, call 112. We also cannot see anyone under 18, and we can only treat patients in Malta and Gozo.
